Designed and built by EMD for the nuclear industry, this custom machine features a two stage inspection station. The unit is designed to take parts from a cutting machine and check them for length, roundness and burrs. At the first station the part is received and checked for length using a laser inspection system. Then it gets transferred to a vision inspection system where both ends are checked for roundness and burrs. Based on the test results the part is either sorted into a good, rework or reject level. Built using premium components and advanced manufacturing techniques such as water jet cutting and electrical discharge machining (EDM) the project was completed before its dead line and on budget.
